EYELASH MAPPING

EYELASH MAPPING

INTRODUCTION

There is much more to being a lash technician than mastering the skill of how to successfully apply extensions to natural lashes. Equally important is the artistry of how to create a perfectly shaped set of lashes for each individual client. For that you’ll need to master lash mapping.

Eyelash mapping is a technique for planning which lengths, curls and thickness you will use where, in order to create a fabulous set of eyelash extensions with the style and the level of drama that your clients desires and that is also suited to their eye shape and natural eyelashes.

It is essential as when done correctly it can enhance beauty and give clients confidence.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED FOR LASH MAPPING

*Eyeliner or pencil: This is for mapping on the skin first.

*Gel pads: These are placed over the lower lashes while you work.

*A colored pen: This is marking on the gel pad- you want a color that will contrast with the eyelashes .

*Lash extensions: You’ll need various lengths and curls.

What To Check Before You Lash Mapping

As your clients to sit still for a minute while you take a good look to assess the following:

*Eye shape: The main eye shapes are round, almond, mono-lid.

*Eye angle: Their eyes may be straight, slightly upturned or slightly upturned or sligtly downturned.

*Eye spacing: Evenly-spaced eyes have one eye’s width in between each eye. Close-set/narrow-set eyes are closer togther than one eye width.

*Natural lash strength: Your clients may desire very long or very full lashes, but depending on the strength/health of their natural lashes they may not be able to support them.

*Natural lash curl: The growing direction of natural eyelashes varies between people. Choosing the right lash curls for their lashes will bring out the best in their eyes and ensure their eyes do not get hidden by lash extensions.

*Brow shape: As they frame the eye, it is also important to consider the eye brows and select a shape that will compliment it.

*Face shape: Wide faces can carry more dramatic looks, whereas a very narrow face may look overwhelmed by very long lashes or a wide cat eye.

Ten(10) Steps On How To Lash Map

  1. Mark on your clients lid where their pupil is and mve this mark higher to the eyebrow so you don’t lose it when cleansing the lashes.
  2. Prep the client and put on uner-eye pads.
  3. Taking the pupil dot, mark where your longest lash will go in the centre of the under-eye pad.
  4. Spikt the undereye pad into sections gaduating to both inner and outer corners.
  5. Isolate a lash within the longest lash middle section Take an artificial lash(with no adhesie attached) and measure it against the natural lash root to tip intil you have the most similar length.
  6. You then know that you can use lash extensions around one third longer than these.
  7. You now have your middle length for your lsh map.
  8. Now write your inner corner length
  9. Graduate the lengths in between the inner corner and middle lengths and do the same going back to the outer corners.
  10. Repeat on the other eye(and account for any individualities) and your lash map is complete
